Local MVP Todd Miranda will be presenting “Out of Browser Experiences with Silverlight 3” at the Thursday, September 10th 2009 Birmingham Software Developers Association meeting. With Silverlight 3 developers are no longer tied to the browser.  Silverlight 3 introduces a new feature enabling a Silverlight 3 component to be run from a user’s desktop.  While this is a wonderful new capability, it comes with its own pitfalls. How does it handle when a user is not connected to the internet? How do we get updates installed on the client’s machine? How do we store any work the client did locally and sync with the network when available?  In this presentation, Todd Miranda will try to answers these questions and more.

Todd Miranda is a software engineer with over 20 years of experience in engineering software solutions. He has a passion for sharing the things he has learned with others and evangelizing about .NET. He is a Microsoft MVP in ASP.NET and continues to stay very involved in the developer community. Todd has presented at various venues and events including user group events, code camps, product launch events, and MSDN events. He is current on the board of the Birmingham .NET User Group and the Silverlight Nights User Group. Todd currently works as the .NET Development Manager for DAXKO in Birmingham, Alabama.

As usual the meeting will kick off at 6:30 pm with announcements then move into the presentation. The meeting will take place at the usual location, the New Horizons training center in Homewood Alabama.
