BSDA – REALBasic for August 13, 2009

This month Dennis Wynn will present on REALBasic. He will be coding in REALBasic with the intention of being able to distribute this application across multiple platforms. REALBasic will allow for the same application to run under Windows, Linux, and/or MAC OS with little to no modifications.

Dennis will explore the ability to tie hardware to software through some simple serial ports. He will use a serial base barcode scanner to read in product barcodes for part verification. Once the part has been validated, a PASS/FAIL signal will be sent to the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) to perform further part processing. In his example, the signal will simply turn on a GREEN/RED LED to indicate the status of the product.

As usual the meeting will take place at New Horizons in Homewood, at 6:30 pm.
