Speaker – Jeff Barnes

Lap Around Windows Azure

So, you have heard the buzz about the upcoming Windows Azure cloud computing platform, but you aren’t sure what is the big deal? Well, this session is for you.  Windows Azure is all about making life much easier for service developers, especially those services that will live in the cloud.  In this introductory overview, we will focus on the big picture of the platform and discuss why it is significant, particularly from the perspective of a service developer.  The goal is to provide you with an understanding of the general purpose the platform and some of the ways it can be leveraged.

Jeff Barnes is a passionate software developer and advocate of the Microsoft .NET platform.  He has an intense conviction that developers should always strive to better themselves and avoid the trap of becoming complacent with their skills.  His enthusiasm is deeply rooted in engineering solutions for the unique challenges often found within the realm of distributed systems. This passion has driven him to become involved with the developer community in order to evangelize the benefits of .NET.  Jeff currently works as a Computer Systems Analyst for Southern Company where he focuses on the design and development of various systems and applications.  He is also a Microsoft MVP for Connected Systems.
